Date of Birth: August 16, 1958, Bay City, Michigan, USA
Birth Name: Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone
Nickname: Nonnie, Maddy, Mo, The Material Girl, Madge, Esther (Kabalah name picked up herself from “Zohar” or “Bible”), M (What she and her friends call her)
Height: 5′ 4½” (1.64 m)

Mini Biography
The remarkable, hyper-ambitious Material Girl who never stops re-inventing herself, Madonna has sold tens of millions of records and CDs to adoring fans worldwide. Her film career, however, is another story. Her performances have consistently drawn scathing or laughable reviews from film critics, and the films have usually had tepid, if any, success at the box office. Born Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone in August 1958 in Bay City, Michigan, she moved to New York in the late 1970s and studied with renowned choreographer Alvin Ailey, joined up with the Patrick Hernandez Revue, formed a pop/dance band called “Breakfast Club” and began working with then boyfriend Stephen Bray on recording several disco-oriented songs. New York producer / DJ Mark Kamins passed her demo tapes to Sire Records in early 1982 and the rest, as they say, is history. The 1980s was Madonna’s boom decade, and she dominated the music charts with a succession of multi-million-selling albums, and her musical and fashion influence on young women was felt around the globe.

Madonna first appeared on screen in two low-budget films marketed to a teenage audience: A Certain Sacrifice (1985) and Vision Quest (1985). However, she scored a minor cult hit with Desperately Seeking Susan (1985) starring alongside spunky Rosanna Arquette. Madonna’s next effort with then husband Sean Penn, Shanghai Surprise (1986), was savaged by critics, although the resilient star managed to somewhat improve her standing with her next two films, the offbeat Who’s That Girl (1987) (although she did receive decidedly mixed reviews, they weren’t as negative as those of her previous effort) and the quirky Damon Runyon-inspired Bloodhounds of Broadway (1989). The big-budget and star-filled Dick Tracy (1990) had her playing bad girl “Breathless Mahoney” flirting with Warren Beatty, but the epic failed to catch fire at the box office. Taking an earthier role, Madonna was much more entertaining alongside Tom Hanks and Geena Davis in the highly enjoyable A League of Their Own (1992), a story about female baseball players during WWII. However, she again drew the wrath of critics with the boring whodunit Body of Evidence (1993), an obvious (and lame) attempt to cash in on the success of the sexy Sharon Stone thriller Basic Instinct (1992).

Several other minor screen roles followed, then Madonna starred as Eva Perón in Evita (1996), a fairly well received screen adaptation of the hugely successful Broadway musical. The Material Girl stayed away from the movie cameras for several years, returning to co-star in the lukewarm romantic comedy The Next Best Thing (2000), followed by the painful Swept Away (2002). If those films weren’t bad enough, she was woefully miscast as a vampish fencing instructor in the James Bond adventure Die Another Day (2002).

Date of Birth: March 10, 1958, Meadville, Pennsylvania, USA
Birth Name: Sharon Vonne Stone
Height: 5′ 8½” (1.74 m)

Mini Biography
Sharon Stone was born and raised in Meadville, a small town in Pennsylvania. Her strict father was a factory worker and her mother was a homemaker. She was the second of four children. At the age of 15, she studied in Saegertown High School, Pennsylvania and, at that same age, entered Edinboro State University of Pennsylvania, and graduated with a degree in creative writing and fine arts. She was a very smart girl, became a bookworm, and once was told that a suitable job for her (and her brains) was to become a lawyer. However, her first love was still the black-and-white movies, especially those featuring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. So, the 17-year-old Sharon got herself into the Miss Pennsylvania beauty contest and won it. From working part-time as a McDonald’s counter girl, she worked her way up to become a successful Ford model, both in TV commercials and print ads. Finally, in 1980, she made her debut in Woody Allen’s Stardust Memories (1980) as “pretty girl on train”. Her first speaking part, though, was in Wes Craven’s horror movie, Deadly Blessing (1981). She struggled through many parts in B-movies, notably in King Solomon’s Mines (1985), and Action Jackson (1988). She was also married in 1984 to Michael Greenburg, the producer of “MacGyver” (1985), but they divorced two years later. She finally received her big break with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall (1990) and also posed nude for Playboy, a daring move for a 32-year-old actress. But it worked; she accepted a breakthrough role as a sociopath novelist, “Catherine Tramell”, in Basic Instinct (1992) with Michael Douglas. Her interrogation scene has become a classic in film history and her performance captivated everyone, from MTV viewers, who honored her with Most Desirable Female and Best Female Performance Awards, to a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. After she got famous, she didn’t want to be typecast, so she played a victim in Sliver (1993) and, in Intersection (1994), she was the aloof, estranged wife of Richard Gere. These movies didn’t “work”, so she got herself again into more aggressive roles, such as The Specialist (1994) with Sylvester Stallone and The Quick and the Dead (1995) with Gene Hackman. But, it wasn’t until she played a beautiful but drug-crazy wife of Robert De Niro in Casino (1995) that she got far more than just fame and fortune–she also received the acknowledgment of the movie industry for her acting ability. She received her first Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination. She did a couple of films after wards, teaming up with Isabelle Adjani in Diabolique (1996), and as a woman waiting for her death penalty in Last Dance (1996). In 1998, she married a newspaper editor, Phil Bronstein. She also received her third Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress that year for The Mighty (1998), a film that her company, “Chaos”, also co-executive produced. The next year, she entered her first comedic role in The Muse (1999), which starred and was directed by Albert Brooks and gave her another Golden Globe nomination. Sharon Stone, a diva who thoroughly enjoys her hard-won stardom, is now a mother of an adorable baby boy, Roan Joseph.

Birth Name: Demetria Gene Guynes
Height: 5′ 5″ (1.65 m)

Mini Biography
Demi Moore was born 1962 in Roswell, New Mexico. Her father left her mother, Victoria, before Demi was born. Her stepfather, Danny Guynes, didn’t add much stability to her life, either. He frequently changed jobs and made the family move a total of 40 times. The parents kept on drinking, arguing and beating, until Guynes finally committed suicide. Demi quit school at the age of 16 to work as a pin-up-girl. At 18, she married rock musician Freddie Moore; the marriage lasted four years. At 19, she became a regular on the TV show “General Hospital” (1963). From the first salaries, she started partying and sniffing cocaine. That lasted more than 3 years, until director Joel Schumacher fired her from the set of St. Elmo’s Fire (1985) when she turned up high. She got a withdrawal treatment and returned clean after a week… and stayed clean. With determination and a skill for publicity stunts, like the nude appearance on the cover of Vanity Fair while pregnant, she made her way to fame. Since the huge commercial success of Ghost (1990) and the controversial pictures Indecent Proposal (1993) and Disclosure (1994), she’s one of Hollywood’s most sought-after and most expensive actresses.

Birth Name: Teri Lynn Hatcher
Nickname: Hatch
Height: 5′ 6″ (1.68 m)

Mini Biography
Teri Lynn Hatcher was born in Palo Alto, California, USA on December 8, 1964, as the only child of Owen and Esther Hatcher, and grew up in nearby Sunnyvale, California. Her father is a nuclear physicist and her mother is a computer programmer. She spent her childhood dancing and fishing with her father. While at Fremont High School, she was captain of the Featherettes, a dance team which had the look of regular cheerleaders, with the exception of the large head dresses they would wear. She was voted “Most Likely to Become a Solid Gold Dancer” by her graduating class in 1982. Hatcher studied acting at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco while taking a degree course in mathematics and engineering at De Anza College in Cupertino, California. She became a member of the 1984 Gold Rush, the name of the professional cheer leading squad of the American football San Francisco 49ers.

Hatcher went to Hollywood to lend moral support to a friend during a open casting call. She, however, auditioned and won the role of the singing and dancing mermaid for the television series, “The Love Boat” (1977). She went on to play Penny Parker, a ditsy but sweet-hearted struggling actress in “MacGyver” (1985). When that show ended, she auditioned for and won the role of smart and savvy Lois in “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” (1993), saying that she didn’t want to be stuck with the pretty airhead image she had acquired as Penny.

She married actor Jon Tenney in May 1994. She gave birth to daughter Emerson Rose Tenney on November 10, 1997. Later, she signed to play Sally Bowles in the road tour of Cabaret. The tour debuted in Los Angeles on March 2, 1999. Her final show was on September 4, 1999. She stayed out of the industry for a little bit before nabbing a role on the darkly, comedic soap opera “Desperate Housewives” (2004), which could have been a huge mistake. The show turned out to be a mega hit, which skyrocketed Hatcher to the A-list. Her portrayal of a divorced mother, Susan Mayer, was consistently named as America’s favorite Desperate Housewife. Hatcher won both a Golden Globe for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and the SAG Award for Female Actor in a Comedy Series before the show’s first season was even over.

She was the baby of the family with two older sisters (Virginia and Dottie) and an older brother Richard Jnr. She was raised in an exclusive society town, Mountain Brook, Alabama. Courteney was the archetypal Daddy’s girl, and therefore was understandably devastated when, in 1974 her parents divorced, and her father moved to Florida.

She became a rebellious teen, and did not make things easy for her mother, and new step-father, New York businessman Hunter Copeland. Now, she is great friends with both. She attended Mountain Brook High School, where she was a cheerleader, tennis player and swimmer. In her final year, she received her first taste of modeling. She appeared in an advert for the store, Parisians. Upon graduation, she left Alabama to study architecture and interior design at Mount Vernon College. After one year she dropped out to a pursue a modeling career in New York, after being signed by the prestigious Ford Modelling Agency. She appeared on the covers of teen magazines such as Tiger Beat and Little Miss, plus numerous romance novels. She then moved on to commercials for Maybeline, Noxema, New York Telephone Company and Tampax.

While modeling, she attended acting classes, as her real dream and ambition was to be an actress. In 1984, she landed herself a small part in one episode of “As the World Turns” (1956) as a young débutante named Bunny. Her first big break, however, was being cast by Brian De Palma in the infamous Bruce Springsteen video “Dancing in The Dark”. In 1985, she moved to LA to star alongside Dean Paul Martin in “Misfits of Science” (1985). It was a flop, but a few years later, she was chosen out of thousands of hopefuls to play Michael J. Fox’s girlfriend, psychology major Lauren Miller in “Family Ties” (1982).

In 1989, “Family Ties” (1982) ended, and Cox went through a lean spell in her career, featuring in unmemorable movies such as Mr. Destiny (1990) with Michael Caine. Fortunes changed dramatically for Cox, when in 1994, she starred alongside Jim Carrey in the unexpected hit Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), and a year later she was cast as Monica Geller on the hugely successful sitcom “Friends” (1994). It was this part that turned her into an international superstar and led to an American Comedy Award nomination. In 1996 Cox starred in Wes Craven’s horror/comedy Scream (1996/I) . This movie grossed over $100 million at the box office, and won Cox rave reviews for her standout performance as the wickedly bitchy and smug TV reporter Gale Weathers. She went on to play this character twice more, as Scream became The Scream Trilogy. Not only did her involvement in this movie lead to critical acclaim, but it also led to her meeting actor husband David Arquette. He played her on screen love interest Dewey, and life imitated art as the two fell in love for real. Their wedding took place in San Francisco, at the historic Grace Cathedral atop Nob Hill, on June 12th, 1999. Joined by 200 guests, including Cox’s film star friends Liam Neeson and Kevin Spacey, the happy couple finally became Mr and Mrs Arquette.

Mini Biography
“Want to know what gets between me and my Calvins? Nothing”. If you hadn’t heard of Brooke Shields before, this tag line from her Calvin Klein Jeans ad had to grab your attention.

Not that she hadn’t had a previous noteworthy resume. She was born in New York City in 1965 and, at age 12, she starred as a child prostitute in Pretty Baby (1978). Could this movie even be made today? It was considered risky and controversial in 1978. It was followed by another hit, The Blue Lagoon (1980).

Brooke has proved herself to be so much more than her early films. Her broad range of work as an adult would be quite an achievement for anyone, especially given how difficult transitioning from child actor to adult often is.

She has never stopped working, whether it be a Bob Hope Christmas special, her own sitcom “Suddenly Susan” (1996) or as an author. She also managed to work on a degree from Princeton University. She has received a number of awards during her career, most notably The People’s Choice award for 1981 through 1984 in the category of Favorite Young Performer. In 1997, she was honored again with The People’s Choice award for Favorite Female Performer in a New Television Series in 1997 for her work in “Suddenly Susan” (1996).

In her personal life, she was married in 1997 to tennis player Andre Agassi and was devastated when they divorced two years later. She married for the second time in 2001 to Chris Henchy. She has been open about using fertility treatments to become pregnant with their daughter, Rowan, born in 2003.

When suffering debilitating depression after the birth of her daughter, she made the decision to put her feelings down on paper. Her book, “Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression”, takes a hard, honest look at what she and many other women experience after childbirth.

She still lives in New York, and is still sought after for work in movies, television, and on stage. Pretty nice list of achievements for the once Calvin Klein jeans girl.

Mini Biography
Sarah Jessica Parker was born March 25, 1965, in Nelsonville, Ohio, to parents Stephen Parker and Barbra Forste (who remarried Paul Forste after divorcing Sarah’s father). After her mother wed Forste, she had four more children, bringing the total to eight. Sarah Jessica now had 3 full siblings and 4 half siblings. Trained in singing and ballet, Sarah was cast in the Broadway production of “The Innocents”, which prompted her family to relocate to New Jersey. Already a professional performer (she studied at the American Ballet School and the Professional Children’s School), Sarah was cast in “The Sound of Music” (along with four of her siblings), and landed the lead in the Broadway run of “Annie”. After a year as the free-spirited orphan, Sarah attended Dwight Morrow High School, while continuing to add more credits to her acting resume. She landed a role in the made-for-TV movie My Body, My Child (1982) (TV), before being cast as one of the lead roles in the 1982 sitcom “Square Pegs” (1982), as high-schooler Patty Green. Once a graduate, Sarah decided to pursue a full-time acting career rather than further her education. Since “Square Pegs” (1982) didn’t last more than a year, Sarah moved on to supporting film roles in movies such as Footloose (1984), Firstborn (1984), and the lead role in the teenage film Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985). Sarah was having lots of fun, although she had yet to land a star-turning role. After more television appearances in series and made-for-TV movies including “A Year in the Life” (1986), The Room Upstairs (1987) (TV) and Dadah Is Death (1988) (TV), Sarah finally landed the role of Steve Martin’s bubbly lover in the 1991 comedy L.A. Story (1991). More substantial film roles soon followed, starting with a role opposite Nicolas Cage in Honeymoon in Vegas (1992) (which foreshadowed her comedic talent), Hocus Pocus (1993) and Ed Wood (1994). A big Woody Allen fan, she starred opposite the renowned filmmaker in the TV movie The Sunshine Boys (1995) (TV), and that same year, she landed a starring role in Miami Rhapsody (1995). 1996 was a film intensive year with roles in The First Wives Club (1996), If Lucy Fell (1996), and Mars Attacks! (1996). All the while making a name for herself in film, Sarah was gaining respect as a theater actress, with her lead role as a dog (hard to imagine, but true) in the off-Broadway “Sylvia,” and her Broadway roles in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” (starring her present husband, Matthew Broderick), and the Tony-Award nominated “Once Upon a Mattress.” But Sarah’s star has shot up since her portrayal of Manhattan sex-columnist Carrie Bradshaw in the HBO series “Sex and the City” (1998). Sarah’s Golden Globe Best Actress victory in 2000 only underscores the fact that she plays the role of Carrie as though it were literally written for her. Sarah has been happily married to fellow actor Matthew Broderick for quite a while now. Before the marriage, she dated Robert Downey Jr. (who she also lived with), and the late John Kennedy Jr. When not serving as lead actress and producer of “Sex and the City” (1998), Sarah is a member of Hollywood’s Women’s Political Committee, and is UNICEF’s representative for the Performing Arts.

Birth Name: Halle Maria Berry
Height: 5′ 6″ (1.68 m)

Mini Biography
Halle Berry was born on August 14, 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA to African American father Jerome Berry, a former hospital attendant, and Caucasian mother Judith Berry, a retired psychiatric nurse. Halle also has an older sister named Heidi Berry. Halle first came into the spotlight at 17 years old when she won the Miss Teen All-American Pageant, representing the state of Ohio in 1985 and, a year later in 1986, when she was the first runner-up in the Miss USA Pageant. After participating in the pageant, Halle became a model. It eventually led to her first weekly TV series, 1989’s “Living Dolls” (1989), where she soon gained a reputation for her on-set tenacity, preferring to “live” her roles and remaining in character even when the cameras stopped rolling. It paid off though when she reportedly refused to bathe for several days before starting work on her role as a crack addict in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever (1991) because the role provided her big screen breakthrough. The following year, she was cast as Eddie Murphy’s love interest in Boomerang (1992), one of the few times that Murphy was evenly matched on screen. In 1994, Berry gained a youthful following for her performance as sexy secretary “Sharon Stone” in The Flintstones (1994). She next had a highly publicized costarring role with Jessica Lange in the adoption drama Losing Isaiah (1995). Though the movie received mixed reviews, Berry didn’t let that slow her down, and continued down her path to super-stardom. In 1998, she received critical success when she starred as a street smart young woman who takes up with a struggling politician in Warren Beatty’s Bulworth (1998). The following year, she won even greater acclaim for her role as actress Dorothy Dandridge in made-for-cable’s Introducing Dorothy Dandridge (1999) (TV), for which she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Movie/Mini-Series. In 2000, she received box office success in X-Men (2000) in which she played “Storm”, a mutant who has the ability to control the weather.
